President Johnson was a big follower of space developments. He had, for example,
walked out to the back of his Texas ranch in October 1957 looking for the Sputnik
spacecraft. Here he examines No. 11 in series of Mars photographs. (photo was taken by
Mariner 4 on July 14,1965) |

In September 1961 Canadian UFO researcher Ronald Anstee wrote a letter to Vice
President Johnson claiming to have proof of the existence of extraterrestrial spacecrafts. |
|
Surprisingly, Vice President Johnson answered Anstee's letter. This letter is one of
only maybe 6 letters dealing with UFOs signed by a sitting President or Vice President. |

The October 20, 1961 letter from Vice President Johnson to UFO researcher Leon
Davidson. The Johnson library said they do not have the October 8, 1961 letter from
Davidson. |
