Dr. Greer Interview Turns Ugly
The January 15 Greer interview with Lan and Heather on KOMA 1520's new show called "The Edge" was one ugly affair. At least in the opinion of this author who listened in to the internet broadfcast. A few minutes into the interview as Dr. Greer began answering a question the hosts suddenly lost Dr. Greer.
Technicians tried to phone Greer back, but failed. The audience was told that they had gotten an answering machine. While waiting for the reconnection Lan went after Dr. Greer, making it quite clear he did not believe Greer had been in contact with extraterrestrials. There was a discussion about people running around with flashlights. Lan expressed the fear of ending up in Greer's emergency ward and having Greer as his doctor. His final words about Greer came about 35 minutes into the show. He stated "Ah, screw the guy." The two hosts went to a backup guest, as Lan stated "I sort of figured this might happen."
The show however, denies this version of events. In a reply to angry listeners a statement posted at the web site this morning said,
Lan & Heather were about to expand on the 'shadow government' and the perception of the American people when we lost communications with Dr. Greer. The Edge had no prior intentions of ridiculing him. Lan & Heather began a bantering match on the subjects that were going to be touched on in the interview when they could not reach him by phone which, lead most listeners to think that they were hostile towards Dr. Greer when in fact they were just buying time.
This author listened to the show. There was no doubt they were buying time. There was, however, no doubt they were ridiculing him. It sounded a lot like morning drive-time shock radio. Not the greatest start for a new show that claims to be "on the edge." Hopefully Stanton Friedman gets a better interview as he makes his appearance on "The Edge" tonight at 11 p.m. central.
In an e-mail from Lan today, he made the following statement.
Although we do have our doubts about some of the claims made by Dr. Greer, we are not pre-judging him or the work that he has done. We are very interested in learning more in regard to what he has to say. But, we are no gullible either. We are interested in the facts. Since we are not a part of the Disclosure Project or CSETI, we approach this subject matter with caution and allow the guest to enlighten our audience, as well as the host,to the facts regarding their claims. Below is a copy of the letter we have sent to Dr. Greer's assistant. We hope you will continue to be a part of The Edge with Lan & Heather on K O M A 1520 AM. Our deepest apologies to Dr. Greer for the disconnect and for what he must have surely perceived as a lead in to ridicule him. We had no intentions of ridiculing him. Dr. Greer heard me say that "I was setting him up" while waiting on the phone. That is a radio term used to "hook" the audience into listening. Heather pointed out to me that the intro to the show could have sounded like we were about to call him a liar. This was not the case. I was "hooking" the audience into the Shadow Government conspiracy and was going to ask Dr. Greer about it based on the information found at the disclosure project. What we found online was to be a part of the conversation but only to clarify what was truth and fiction. We know about the Internet and how easy it is to impersonate someone else. It has been done to us many times in the past. When we thought that Dr. Greer had blown us off, we went ahead with the program as best we could attempting to sound as perplexed as we could for the entertainment value of the program. It was our hope to get Dr. Greer back on the phone to begin the conversation. We were under the impression that Dr. Greer did not want to speak with us at that point and called a stand by guest. Dr. Greer is most welcome back on The Edge as we are very interested in his point of view on these issues.
